Swiss Financial Services Act (FinSA)

1. What is FinSA

The Swiss Financial Services Act (FinSA) entered into force on 1.1.2020 and the transition period for implementation of FinSA expired on 31.12.2021. Since 1.1.2022, FinSA is fully applicable for Schroder & Co Bank AG as well as for other providers of financial services in Switzerland.

FinSA aims in particular at strengthening investor protection and establishing comparable standards for providers of financial services. 5. Information on client classification

FinSA obliges providers of financial services to classify their clients into one of the three available categories: retail clients, professional clients and institutional clients. Different levels of investor protection apply to the different client categories. Schroder & Co Bank AG does not offer the category institutional clients.

All clients of Schroder & Co Bank AG are classified as retail clients. If you meet the requirements of opting-out into the category of professional clients, you can request your re-classification. Details on client classification and the available options of opting-out and opting-in are outlined in the brochure “FinSA client information document” (see above section 1).


6. Risk information

Transactions with financial instruments are associated with opportunities and risks. It is important that you are familiar with and understand these risks before using a financial service. The brochure “Risks Involved in Trading Financial Instruments” contains general information on typical financial services and on the characteristics and risks of financial instruments. You can always request a copy of this brochure from your relationship manager or download it here.


7. Product information

If produced by the issuer, Schroder & Co Bank AG will provide all execution-only and advisory clients with the Key Investor Information Document (KIID) free of charge before the execution of a transaction. This may result in delays executing your order – in particular if you are absent (e.g. on the phone). You can declare your consent in writing that the KIID shall be provided to you only after the execution of a transaction. In such case please contact you relationship manager who will assist you with the necessary documents. You can also withdraw your consent at any time in writing.

As a professional client and as a client with a discretionary mandate you will not automatically receive the KIID, but you can always request such document from your relationship manager.

8. Information on costs and third party payments

Schroder & Co Bank AG charges fees for the provision of its services. An overview of costs and fees can be found in our fee brochure, which you can request from your relationship manager or download here.
